What happens when I apply for credit?

The creditor who is issuing the line of credit will notice a fraud alert has been placed on your account. They then have an obligation to call you or take other extra steps to verify your identity. They will ask you a series of questions to validate it is you making the request. Once your identity is verified, they can process your request. Please note that LifeLock does not influence the credit decision in any way. LifeLock also does not set fraud alerts on your behalf. It is your responsibility to set your own fraud alerts and renew them every 90 days.

However, the LifeLock Identity Alert™ system provides you broader identity coverage, greater control, and early notification by email, postal mail, and/or phone whenever we detect your personal information being used to apply for many forms of credit cards, wireless services, retail credit, utilities, check orders/reorders, mortgage loans, auto loans, and non-credit related payday loans.
