Daughter of Murdered SF Porn King Busted in Large-Scale Identity Theft Operation

Police arrested the daughter of a notorious San Francisco pornographer outside of a tony Marin County hotel last week as part of the bust of a large-scale identity theft operation, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's office.

Jasmine Mitchell, 33, was under investigation by the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security and was wanted by California state parole, Santa Clara County and Sonoma County for outstanding arrest warrants and her part in an identity theft ring, according to Sheriff's Lt. Tim Duke.

Mitchell is the daughter of Artie Mitchell, a prolific porn producer who, with his brother, Jim Mitchell, made films and opened the strip club Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre in 1969. Jim shot and killed his brother Artie in 1991.

Duke said Sonoma County Sheriff's detectives first tried to arrest Mitchell on April 29 when they got a tip that she and her accomplice, Roy Kim, 34, were staying at an apartment across from a casino in San Pablo, Calif.

Detectives found and seized material indicating a large-scale identity theft and credit card operation in the apartment, Duke said.

Mitchell pulled up to the apartment complex in a white Mercedes SUV while detectives were there. When detectives tried to arrest her, she rammed a police car with her SUV, hit another parked car and drove off, Duke said.

Shortly thereafter, detectives found Kim in a taxi in the nearby city of Richmond and arrested him. Detectives also arrested another suspect they found at the apartment complex, Harley Logsdon, 46, Duke said.

With Mitchell at large, detectives began searching for her at expensive hotels in the Bay Area.

On May 8, detectives spotted Mitchell walking toward the Lodge at Tiburon and arrested her after a brief struggle, Duke said.

Mitchell was found with counterfeit credit cards, cash and methamphetamine in her possession, and detectives discovered papers in her purse indicating she might be attempting to flee the country, according to Duke.

Secret Service agents took custody of Mitchell shortly after her arrest. She is now in federal custody facing charges from the U.S. Attorney's office, the Sonoma County District Attorney's office and the Contra Costa County District Attorney's office, Duke said.
